Microsoft is working on a new update for Windows 11 that will improve the performance of the new operating system (OS) on outdated and low-cost hardware.

Techradar reported that Windows 11 Build 22526 is now available to members of the Insider early access program, with numerous enhancements and fixes. It is unclear when the update will be made available to the public.

Though the majority of the new features are minor, the software giant is using this update to test a new file location indexing system, with the hope that the build will allow users to find important files even faster using File Explorer.

The recently released Windows 11 File Explorer is extremely slow and prone to frequent crashes. Users frequently have to suffer as a result of the slowness of the Search functionality.

If users have a large number of files stored on the built-in hard drive, it takes a long time to return relevant searches.

The new update may allow you to move through a large number of files more quickly.

More importantly, it will be extremely beneficial to users who are running Windows 11 on outdated and low-cost devices with lengthy load times that negatively impact performance.

Other improvements in the upcoming Windows 11 update include wideband speech support, which will improve the audio quality of voice calls if you use products like Apple Airpods.

In addition to the popular Alt + Tab functionality, there will be a new “windowed” system.
